A Great British Celebration at Taunton Care Home

Residents at Oake Meadows Care Home in Taunton enjoyed a good old British street party to celebrate The Queen’s 70th year on the throne.

The courtyard, which is at the heart of the home, was given a red, white and blue makeover for the occasion with bunting, Union Jacks and balloons.

Having spent the previous week preparing and making decorations for the Platinum Jubilee, the air was filled with excitement.

As the Oake Meadows residents gathered around tables decorated with Union Jack tablecloths, one of their favourite performers entertained with live music.

A Fitting Tribute

A fun afternoon of singing, dancing and catching up was accompanied by homemade great British party food from the Oake Meadows kitchen.

In a fitting tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, the home’s street party came to a close with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem.

Katrina Ball, Oake Meadows’ Home Manager, said: “With Her Majesty the Queen being a consistent and important figure in our residents’ lives, we were all keen to mark the jubilee in a fitting way. Many of our residents have fond memories of street parties, including those held to celebrate the coronation. This was the perfect opportunity to remember good times and make new memories with our Oake Meadows family.”
