Elfing Around for a Great Cause at Great Horkesley Manor

Thanks to some elfing around, the first Friday in December has become a real highlight for our residents and team at Great Horkesley Manor Care Home near Colchester.

In recent years, the date has become famous for Alzheimer’s Society’s annual Elf Day, where people are encouraged to dress up as Santa’s elves in support of the charity’s vital work. As a dementia specialist care home, the cause is close to the hearts of all who live and work at ‘The Manor’, the team were keen to get involved and create a fun day for their residents.

Elf Day has become the perfect way to kickstart festivities at the home. Christmas trees and decorations are put in place just in time to transform Great Horkesley Manor into a winter wonderland for its very own elve’s big day at work.

A Sprinkling of Festive Magic

Wearing a mixture of elf outfits, hats and elf-themed Christmas jumpers, not to mention some very impressive furry elf boots, the team set about their daily jobs with an extra sprinkling of festive magic.

Having enjoyed seeing their care team friends dress up last year, many of the Great Horkesley Manor residents were keen to join in too with a fantastic array of novelty jumpers and hats worn throughout the day.

As the annual “elfing around the Christmas tree” photo shows, the day was a great success, a great amount of fun, with Elf Day 2022 already greatly looked forward to by everyone at The Manor!

Great Horkesley Manor has a regular calendar of events and activities driven by their in-house activities team. With regular dress-up days, theme events and charity initiatives, there is always something fun on offer at our care home near Colchester.
