At Mundy House Care Home, part of Larchwood Care, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that they are in the running for not just one but two prestigious awards at the upcoming sixth annual Caring UK Awards.

Mundy House is recognised for its outstanding efforts in community involvement, particularly through the Archie Project. This intergenerational dementia awareness initiative brings together local primary schools, care homes, and community members. By dispelling the fear and stigma often associated with dementia, we aim to create more dementia-friendly communities. In 2022, Mundy House partnered with Fairhouse School to become involved in this project. Our Manager and Deputy Manager visit the school regularly, addressing the children in their assemblies to provide an understanding of dementia and bridge any misconceptions. The children also visit Mundy House, interact with the residents, and share their excitement. This initiative has significantly improved residents’ memory and cognition, as well as the effectiveness of intergenerational communication.
Mundy House has implemented a groundbreaking approach to enhance the lives and well-being of our residents. We have committed to an inclusive living environment where all residents, regardless of their cognitive abilities, live together as a community, participate in daily activities, and experience the joys of everyday life. Through a sensory approach, Mundy House has set a new standard in dementia care, resulting in remarkable improvements in residents’ daily lives and well-being. Our Namaste room, inspired by a workshop attended by our Manager and Deputy, has proven to be a serene oasis for our residents. This room is equipped with various sensory elements, including aromatherapy, soothing music, foot spas, and more. It has not only provided residents with a place of relaxation but has also increased one-on-one interaction time, allowing for a more personalised and attentive approach to care.
Operations Director, Alison Boote, shares our excitement: “Congratulations to everyone at Mundy House. The home continues to go above and beyond for its residents, with initiatives like the Archie Project and the Namaste Room making a huge difference to the residents’ lives. The team are racking up the awards and we are all very proud of them.”
The winners will be revealed at the glittering awards ceremony at The Athena in Leicester on Thursday 7th December 2023, where the industry will gather to celebrate excellence in the care sector.
Thank you for being a part of our story, and stay tuned for more updates as we continue to strive for excellence and innovation in care!
