Hope House Residents Return to Blackpool

For many, it wouldn’t be autumn without a trip to Blackpool to see the illuminations. In previous years, the residents of Hope House Care Home in Clayton-le-Moors have enjoyed many trips to the seaside resort in the home’s minibus.

During the pandemic, day trips had been curtailed to keep residents safe, in line with government guidance. However, following a relaxation in restrictions on such activities, and the completion of dynamic risk assessments to ensure the safety of residents, a number of the Hope House family were able to visit the 2021 Blackpool Illuminations.

Accompanied by care team members, who were equally as excited by the return of the seaside visits, residents enjoyed a stroll along the seafront after sunset taking in the displays. After visiting all of the major landmarks, and posing for a few photos along the way, our day-trippers warmed up with a fish and chip tea.

Bringing Back Happy Memories

The topic of conversation over supper was how the illuminations have changed over our residents’ lifetimes. The discussion covered everything from the size of the event, to which famous faces had switched the lights across the years. With many happy memories shared and new ones made, the Hope House minibus headed back to the home after a wonderful day.

A few days later, and by popular demand, a second trip set off with another group of residents to enjoy the bright lights of Blackpool. Everyone at the home is now looking forward to making more trips to see the sea in the sunnier months of 2022!
