Budding artists at Bryan Wood have been busy making their own Christmas cards to sell to friends and family.
The resident-led art club gives members the opportunity to be creative and to express themselves through painting. And this latest project has seen the club produce a number of festive designs that have now been turned into cards and are selling fast – 300 cards have been sold so far and all monies raised go into the residents’ social fund.
Larchwoods’s Head Office team were so impressed by the designs that one has been chosen as the official company Christmas card this year.
The home’s gardening club was the inspiration for the artworks – having planted bulbs that were not going to flower for a good while, the residents decided to paint the flowers, imagining how they might look.
Tommy Miller activities coordinator said “ Many residents have re-discovered talents that they thought had been lost or thought they might never use again. Some residents have discovered talents they didn’t know they had.
“There is a lovely air of calm in the art club and it is very therapeutic as it engages the residents in a lovely creative way. It stimulates conversation, raises the spirits and increases a real sense of well being. And the project doesn’t stop with Christmas – we’ll be keeping busy producing Valentine’s cards, Easter cards and birthday cards too”.
