Stanley from Oake Meadows was super excited to take ownership of his revamped walking frame. Stanley chose the deep blue colour to compliment his sparkling personality! He was eager to show it off to the visiting students from Richard Huish and Bridgewater/Taunton Colleges!
Students from Richard Huish and Bridgewater & Taunton College are undertaking a week of work placement at Oake Meadows in Taunton. Residents Olive and Kevin were keen to participate in a Lifestyle and Activities Survey by Elinor and Kanisha. ” We always say what we would like to do and the staff try really hard to make it happen for us.” Kevin said.
Oake Meadows resident, Stanley, enjoyed a day out to the local cider mill to sample a selection of cider and cheese. Stanley’s favourite was the strong Cloudy Cider, accompanied by the delicate and subtle smoked cheese.
Oake Meadows resident Julie enjoys a weekly swim to ensure regular and continued exercise. Julie loves the heated pool and enjoys the workout of the backstroke.
Staff at Oake Meadows recently arranged a surprise wedding anniversary celebration for resident Peter and his wife Dorothy. Peter loves chocolates and this was the perfect gift for their special day!
Residents at Oake Meadows expressed their gratitude and appreciation of author and friend, Dave Jeffery on World Book Day. Dave recently sponsored his latest book to the home and residents chose his book as their favourite for 2019!
Oake Meadows resident Julie enjoyed an energetic workout at a local trampoline park. Julie was adventurous and attempted every single activity on offer and loved every second of this new experience. Julie said: “I just love it!”
Valerie from Oake Meadows was invited to Trull Community Centre to enjoy a lemon and sugar pancake (or 3!) with local residents. Val really loved the company and food and even squeezed in a trip to a local pet shop to look at all the colorful fish on display!
Residents at Oake Meadows in Taunton were treated to haircuts and treatments in in-house Bliss Hair Salon. These visits will now happen regularly on Fridays, as the residents really enjoy these pamper sessions and like to experiment with new styles. Margaret said: “It’s really important for me to look my best. It makes me feel great to have a fresh haircut.” Thank you to Toni and Sam for the wonderful day!
Residents at Oake Meadows in Taunton were visited recently by Health and Social Care students from Richard Huish College as part of continued efforts at linking with the local community. Everyone enjoyed sharing life experiences and memories!
