Avonbridge Care Home in Hamilton, a proud member of the Larchwood Care family, is delighted to introduce a charming addition to its community – a resident-run tuck shop.
What makes this venture truly unique is that our residents are at the heart of it, actively participating in its operation. Our tuck shop, ingeniously set up on a mobile cart crafted from an upcycled medicine trolley, features an array of delightful treats, from chocolates and crisps to refreshing beverages.
This tuck shop isn’t just about convenience; it’s a meaningful initiative with a purpose. All profits generated from these delectable offerings will be reinvested into creating memorable experiences for our residents, such as outings and special events.
Emma Duffy, our dedicated Home Manager, expresses her enthusiasm: “Our tuck shop is more than just a place to grab a snack. It’s a hub for our residents to engage in a purposeful activity, nurturing a strong sense of belonging and purpose. It’s a social center that encourages interaction and builds a sense of camaraderie within our community. Sometimes, a bag of bonbons can truly brighten someone’s day!”
This initiative underscores Avonbridge’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our cherished residents. Active participation in the daily operations of our tuck shop not only boosts our residents’ confidence and self-worth but also perfectly aligns with Larchwood Care’s philosophy of nurturing holistic living environments.
We look forward to sharing this heartwarming experience with you and invite you to come visit us at Avonbridge Care Home.
