Afternoon Tea, Cakes, And Romance At Briar House Care Home

The residents of Briar House Care Home in Kings Lynn have enjoyed an afternoon surrounded by love hearts and sweet treats as they celebrated Valentines Day.

Loved ones were invited to join residents at the home for a delicious afternoon tea to mark the occasion. The Briar House team spent time decorating the dining room with heart-shaped balloons, mobiles and banners.

On entering the room, guests were greeted with specially set tables complete with red table cloth, heart-shaped napkins, and red roses. As residents and their loved ones chatted, the afternoon tea was served. Guests enjoyed an array of savoury treats and cakes, with heart-shaped cupcakes the star of the show.

Briar House resident Michael enjoyed the Valentine’s Day afternoon tea with his wife Sue. Afterwards, Sue said; “Honestly, Michael and I have had dinner at expensive restaurants where far less trouble has been taken. The table which had been set just for the two of us was delightful. The little heart-shaped iced cakes sprinkled with tiny hearts were so thoughtful and also delicious.”

Helping Residents Organise Surprises

In the days before the event, members of the Briar House team helped residents choose cards and gifts for their loved ones. After receiving her card and gift, Sue said; “A great big thank you to Jo for choosing just the right card and chocolates for me from Michael.  She tells me she was under strict instructions!”

Residents and their guests also had the chance to win a hamper full of romantic gifts, kindly donated by staff and visitors to the home.

At Briar House, we strive to ensure that residents continue to celebrate the events and festivals that are special to them. Our dedicated Activities Coordinator plans a great selection of things to enjoy each week, so you will always find something exciting to look forward to at the home.
