A Sun-Kissed Day at the Beach: Lily House Residents’ Day to Remember!

The residents of Lily House Care Home in Ely decided to swap the familiar walls of their home for the breezy ambiance of the ever-so-beautiful Hunstanton Beach. And oh boy, was it a day packed with delightful moments!

After their scenic drive to Hunstanton, the first pit stop was – you guessed it – a charming café. Not just any café, mind you, but one that boasts an astonishing fish tank. Unsurprisingly, our keen fisherman resident was absolutely entranced. Meanwhile, a good old cuppa helped rejuvenate the spirits of everyone else after their journey.

Then, as the sea beckoned, our adventurous group wandered along the inviting seafront. But what’s a seaside adventure without some unexpected surprises? In a delightful twist, they stumbled upon a traditional Punch and Judy show! Laughter echoed as fish and chips were heartily devoured. There was an icing on the cake moment when they got up close and personal with the one and only Mr. Punch. Echoing his catchphrase, they joyfully proclaimed, “that’s the way to do it!”

Amid the old-school charm, the amusement arcade also played host. The “Hook a Duck” game became a highlight of the day and the seaside experience wouldn’t have been complete without some good old ice-cream licking and sandcastle building.

Kudos to the amazing team

Kudos to the amazing team: Jeff, for steering the ship (well, bus) safely; Joanne, for being the brilliant mind behind this escapade; and of course, a standing ovation for Kirsten and Jennifer for ensuring everything went swimmingly.

As the sun set on this beautiful day, Kerry Clifton, the manager of Lily House Care Home, shared her thoughts: “It was a splendid day. Such excursions are a testament to the spirit and enthusiasm of our residents. Their smiles today are memories we will cherish forever.”
